YJP at a Glance

Who We Are

Chabad Young Jewish Professionals is dedicated to growing a vibrant and inspired network of young Jewish folks in their 20s and 30s here in Rochester. We provide a holistic milieu of dynamic social events, handcrafted educational experiences, meaningful spiritual gatherings and opportunities for authentic relationships.

Our Vision

We believe that Jewish experiences should be relevant, exciting, soulful, and inviting. And that YJP can be your community, your family and your home.

Each one of us has the ability to impact our surroundings and create change in our local community, and by extension, the world.

Let's build the Young Jewish Rochester community, together.

“When I first moved to Rochester, I knew that moving away from my family meant that alone, finding a semblance of a Jewish life would be challenging. Finding YJP Rochester gave me that space for Jewish spirituality I was hoping for.”

— Jaclyn Adler, RN

Our Team

Rabbi Moshe Vogel
Co-Director

Rabbi Moshe was born and raised right here in Rochester, where he grew up in a family dedicated to community– his parents run Chabad of Rochester! He furthered his education in Detroit, Israel and Brooklyn, worked as a high school mentor in LA. and received his rabbinical ordination in Atlanta. Rabbi Moshe has always been passionate about building a community and when the opportunity arose in 2013 to move back to Rochester, he, his wife Chayi and baby Mottel were excited with the challenge of building a community in the Park ave neighborhood specifically geared for young professionals. Over the last 8 years, they have been dedicated to this special demographic, building a beautiful community where all feel welcome.

Chayi Vogel
Co-Director

Chayi grew up in Montreal, in a vibrant Jewish community and attended Beth Rivkah Academy for girls through High School. She has always been passionate about education, and earned her Teaching Degree at Chaya Mushka Seminary in 2006. Her journey then took her to Safed, Israel to continue her studies, where she fell in love with the land and its spiritual vibes. Chayi spent time in Valencia, California, where she ran jewish youth programming and finally met Moshe in Brooklyn in 2011. Since moving to Rochester in 2013, Chayi’s greatest joy is connecting young Jews to each other and their Jewish souls.
